Net-set-go! 5 & 6 Years (NET)

Start Time: Friday 4.30pm to 5.30pm
Program Information: This 7 week NET program is designed to introduce participants to a number of fundamental motor and netball skills in a netball environment. Participants experience fun and success by participating in age and developmentally appropriate activities and minor games that foster teamwork.
Play based movement skills program for the beginner or new player. Emphasis is on the acquisition of basic movement skills in a fun environment. Provides children with the opportunity to participate and experience a feeling of success from their participation and to develop and expand their motor skills in a non-competitive environment.
First year netball experience – program is appropriate to the age and ability of the participants.
This program is run by MNA appointed volunteer accredited Head coach and assistants.
- Held each Friday for 7 weeks from 4.30pm – 5.30pm
- Players are arranged into small groups with a coach
- Players are put through a 30-45 minute fun training session
- Focus is on fundamental motor skills development, using netball activities, minor games, dance and music
- There is no match play or competition
- Parents encouraged to volunteer by assisting the Coach/Manager or Coordinator
Net-set-go! 7 - 8 Years (SET)
Date: Saturday, 26th April (12 week program)
Venue: Mackay Netball Courts, Casey Avenue, South Mackay

Moddies Carnivals – Saturday 20th April & Saturday 24th August 2024. Times will be advised at a later date
Program Information: This program is designed to refine fundamental motor skills and provide an introduction to modified netball matches. It is designed for players who have just completed the NET program and is ideal for “first and second year players”.

What’s involved in the SET program:

- Club based weekly NetSetGO skill sessions incorporated into Club training sessions
- Play on Saturday – games 4 x 12 minute quarters
- Full NSG Rules – participate in modified competition in accordance with NSG Rules
- Games will focus on skills not competition incorporating rotation, scoring, centre pass recording. Scores not recorded in Netball Connect.
- Players must rotate positions every half, preferably remaining in the one area per game ie. Defence one week, centre court the next, shooting the next.
- No finals games will be played
- Games umpired by coaches
- Participate in a beginner Whistle Blowers Program / Rules Discussion
Net-set-go! 8 - 10 Years (GO)
Date: Saturday, 27th of April (12 week program)
Venue: Mackay Netball Courts, Casey Avenue, South Mackay
Start Time: GO A – 10.20am GO B – 9.20am

Program Information: This program is ideal for players who have previously participated in at least one year of SET Tier.
What’s involved in the GO program:
- Club based teams CLICK HERE TO FIND A CLUB
- Club based weekly NetSetGO skill sessions incorporated into Club training sessions
- Play on Saturday – games 4 x 12 minute quarters (GO B) and 4 x 15 minute quarters (GO A) – No skills & drills on Saturdays
- Full Netball Rules (ie. 3 seconds / no stepping / changeovers and out of play)
- Full hoop height
- Focus on skills not competition
- Preferred – umpired by own Club Badged Umpires (Umpire should not be coach so that children understand the different roles of a coach and umpire.
- Umpires to assist in the development of players where required at their discretion (ie. throw-ins, constant obstruction or contact)
- Players are to play a minimum of 2 positions per game, with all 7 positions being played evenly across the season
- Scores not recorded in Netball Connect
- No finals games will be played
